Artist Statement:
Approaching my crone years, I am filled with a creative energy, not yet urgent, but close. From plants and nature, on walks in the woods, sometimes after moments that take your breath away, I work -- from what I have gathered and saved -- along with chips from my psyche. Recently, I have added antique stores and flea markets to the forage.
The forms, (abstract sculpture (recently Vintage Punk), nature collages, non-traditional baskets, vessels, illuminaries, wall pieces etc...) most coupled with a poetic statement, speak to contemporary issues, mysteries, the metaphysical and women's topics. I combine the art with the writing -- an offer to the universe in exchange for all its wonders. The natural materials connect to the earth, and the writing, an actual part of the art form, leans toward the ethereal. One inspires the other.
From the collected readings of Carl Jung, I find my mantra: "Art relates primordial images to the times".
And from Louise Bourgeoise: "I am not what I am, I am what I do with my hands."
Seventy is the new fifty.
The nanosecond is the new moment.
